Midcity Hobart is an old hotel that is located in the CBD of Hobart. They are currently updating rooms, however the reception area, corridors and room doors still show a dated hotel. We had an updated room that had a shower with a rain head on it. The shower is stepped up off the floor, so caution is needed when getting in and out. Heating and cool of the room is via air con. This though spent more time blowing out cool air when trying to warm the room up. Yes it was on heat. Electric blankets did help. An air conditioning unit is on the wall, however does not work. This must have been left up during the updating of the room, not sure why. The updated room is finished off with a flat pack desk and tub chairs. A mini bar is in the room and well stocked, which was welcomed. The down stairs restaurant served nice meals, however lacks atmosphere. It was interesting that their gaming room, keno and pokies, is not open of a weekend. Room service is available from this restaurant, yet there is no table to eat from if there are two of you. Not sure about the Wifi, as we where not given a password to access it. Off street parking is available for a cost of $10 per night. Be aware that spots are very tight for large cars, SUV's and 4WD. The location of the hotel allows you to walk into the CBD, as you are only a 4 minute walk to the mall, Cat and Fiddle Arcade and Myer. A Woolworths is just a 6 minute walk, as is the Royal Hobart Hospital. A 10 minute walk will put you at Constitution Dock.

“Old but comfortable ”

This hotel is an old style hotel that hasn’t really been updates too much, however, it was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly, had access to a 24 gym 50m down the road and a bar downstairs. Walking distance to the mall and constitution bay.

Ideally positioned in a central location, the room was comfortable with a recently refurbished bathroom (brilliant shower). We didn't eat there as it looked a bit naff .However opposite is a pub (hotel ??) which serves excellent food and the closest thing to a decent pint in all Australia .Pulled f… Plus

We didn't eat there as it looked a bit naff .However opposite is a pub (hotel ??) which serves excellent food and the closest thing to a decent pint in all Australia .Pulled from a hand pump.All in all good value for money.
